A Collaborative Ethical Approach To Animal Behaviour
In line with the APBC, ASAB and FABC codes of conduct, a client's veterinary surgeon is always consulted before I start working with them on any behaviour issue. I believe it is important for behaviourists and vets to work together, in the best interest of the client and their animal.
I understand that it can be difficult to choose a behaviourist, as although regulation of the industry started with the formation of the Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC) in 2010, it is still legal for a non-accredited/ unqualified individual to offer behaviour support services. Which, of course, could do more harm than good.
