Behaviour Clinics at Newton Clarke Vets

As a Certified Clinical Animal Behaviourist, full member of the APBC, FABC and a ABTC registered Clinical Animal Behaviourist with 13 years of experience I have now teamed up with Newton Clarke Veterinary Centre to offer confidence clinics and behaviour advice clinics for puppies, dogs and cats

I understand that pets are more than just animals; they're beloved members of your family. Sometimes, behavioural issues can arise, leaving both you and your pet feeling frustrated. From the youngest puppy to oldest family friend there are often times when a little bit of help goes a long way. Be it learning their first steps in the big wide world or overcoming a behavioural concern I offer comprehensive behaviour advice clinics tailored to meet the unique needs of your pet. My approach combines expert knowledge, empathy, and practical solutions to help improve your pet's well-being and strengthen your bond with them.

  • Dog Behaviour

    Is your dog displaying some challenging behaviour? Maybe they are barking or lunging at people or dogs? Or you have become worried about the look in their eye when they have something they shouldn’t? Or you have become a prisoner in your own home and struggling to balance your life and their distress? I am offering initial behaviour assessments (60 minutes) and follow up appointments (30 minutes) at Newton Clarke vets. In home support is also available if needed.

  • Cat Behaviour

    Has your cat started toileting outside of their litter box? Or is not getting along with the other cats in your household? Maybe they have started showing aggression towards people or fear of noises? I am offering initial behaviour assessments (60 minutes) and follow up appointments (30 minutes) at Newton Clarke vets. In home support is also available if needed.

  • Puppy Advice

    Have you brought home a new puppy and not sure where to start? Finding house training difficult? Or unsure about crate training, leaving your new pup safely or struggling overnight? Maybe they are stealing all your socks or chewing your furniture? Or even you feel you brought a land shark home instead? I’m here to answer all your puppy related questions in an initial 45-minute appointment.

    Is your dog terrified of going to the vet? 60% of dogs show fear at a veterinary clinic so you are definitely not alone. As dogs pick up on environmental cues so easily, it is hard to work on this fear at home - this is why I offer these clinics to help dogs overcome their fear and make vet visits more of a positive experience for all of those involved.s here

 FAQs

  • Your initial appointment with me will be 45 minutes long, we will obtain a baseline and an understanding of your dog’s fear and devise an appropriate treatment plan for you and your dog. The practice’s veterinary nurses will be able to help you practically with this and then follow up sessions with me can be arranged to track your progress and tailor your next steps

  • In the behaviour advice clinics (cats/ dogs), your first appointment will be 60 minutes along when we will cover the issues that you are experiencing and devise an appropriate treatment plan - this may include 30 minutes follow up appointments in the clinic, or home visits.

  • For puppy advice, your initial appointment would be 30 minutes long where I will answer any questions you may have about raising your puppy and provide you with handouts. For further support, I do run puppy classes that may be suitable for you or your may opt for home visits.
